The Victorian style house destroyed by fire Friday morning was built in 1925 by Dr. Albert Miller in the Eidson community on the north side of Clinch Mountain, and has the distinction of being the first catalog prefab house built in Hawkins County.
"We were able to save some of the dogs that were in pens under the back porch, but there was fire coming out the doors,” said MCPD Chief Grady White. “There was no way to get to them at all." He added there will be an investigation into potential code violations related to the "excessive" number of dogs owned by the man.
